Something we’ve always wanted to do, done today: take Henri’s espresso machine back to the Fracino factory where it was made for its annual service and boiler certification.
Fracino: sounds Italian, right? Actually: most of the team have Brummie accents as it’s a proudly British family firm, manufacturing coffee machines in Birmingham for over 50 years.
And when we say ‘manufacturing’: the vast majority of the components are actually made in house, right down to the brass fittings to connect the pipework, and the copper boilers.
Fracino are still a family firm and are proudly exporting all over the world.
We got to find out what makes our machine tick, (our Fracino Contempo is gas powered so we can make incredible coffee even when we’re not connected to the mains on board Henri).
Mark even got a factory tour – including a look at the 10 tonne presses they use to stamp out large components. No photos from the factory unfortunately as they’re completing some confidential work for other companies at the moment.
We’re proud to be playing our tiny part in this British manufacturing success story… and you can join our video tour of the Fracino showroom on our Instagram TV channel now…
